Katie Simon is a sexuality journalist and author of Tell Me What You Like: An Honest Discussion of Sex and Intimacy After Sexual Assault. Their writing has previously appeared in the New York Times, New York Magazine, Vogue, The Washington Post, Playboy, and Women's Health. Katie studied creative writing, marketing, and narrative medicine at New York University, the University of East Anglia, and Columbia University.
They are collaborating on research about coping skills and sources of support for survivors reclaiming their sexuality after sexual assault, and working on a new project about the roles our exes play in the rest of our lives.
Katie Simon (they/them) has written for The New York Times, The Washington Post, Vogue, BuzzFeed, Tin House, Health, BUST, Women's Health, and elsewhere, including the anthology Anatomy of Silence.
Katie earned a BA in Contemporary Storytelling at New York University and an MA in Biography and Creative Nonfiction Writing at the University of East Anglia. They studied Narrative Medicine at Columbia University and completed the Memoir Incubator at Grub Street in Boston, MA, and the Human Sexuality Intensive at the Kinsey Institute.
Their first nonfiction book, Tell Me What You Like: An Honest Discussion of Sex and Intimacy After Sexual Assault, about the sex lives of sexual assault survivors, came out in 2025 to a positive reception from Oprah Daily, The Cut, Playboy, Vogue, Dan Savage, NPR, Amanda Knox, the Queer Love Project, and more.
They are seeking a new literary agent who specializes in nonfiction and live in Texas with their dog, Babka.
Co-host: Laura Levitt, LCSW, is a trauma therapist based in Brooklyn, NY. Laura holds an MSW from Columbia School of Social Work. She is a graduate of the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy’s Integrated Trauma Training Program and currently serves as the Associate Director of the Trauma Program at ICP. As a clinician, Laura works primarily with adults living with complex PTSD and mood disorders. She uses a variety of treatment modalities, with a focus on relational and mindfulness-based techniques.
Will a recording be available? The recording of workshops is subject to the discretion of ICP and the individual speaker. While clinical material is de-identified, out of an abundance of caution regarding confidentiality and to encourage open discussion, recordings are not guaranteed and may not always be available. Please also note that if you are seeking Continuing Education (CE) credits for a workshop, you must attend the session live and be present for the entire duration. CE credits cannot be awarded for viewing recordings of the workshop.
