Dr. Irit Felsen will be presenting on the intergenerational transmission of parental/ancestral trauma in different groups, highlighting their commonalities as well as their unique differences. The lecture will focus on empirical research and clinical literature on survivors of the Holocaust and their families, as this is still the largest body of literature in this field. The mental health profession has yet to readily accepted the validity of the concept of historical trauma, however, the evidence from Holocaust families has opened the gate for research of historical trauma in other groups, including the Indigenous nations of America and the descendants of Black slaves in America. Approved for 2 NYS CE Credits.

This workshop covers Michele Scheinkman’s Vulnerability Cycle and Multi-Level Approach, along with clinical approaches to gender diversity and consensual nonmonogamy in couple therapy. Jean Malpas will explore intersectional integrative couple therapy, emphasizing familial, contextual, and cultural influences on relationships. Case vignettes, presented through summaries and videos, will illustrate key therapeutic frameworks and techniques. Approved for 4 NYS CE Credits.

This workshop will provide the essentials of a harm reduction/mindfulness approach with Jen Levy, Ph.D., how to use addiction and functional medicine with Sonya Lazarevic, MD, and treatment approaches for families and loved ones of those impacted by substance use issues with Nicole Kosanke, Ph.D. Approved for 4.5 NYS CE Credits.

The goal of the workshop is for participants to gain an understanding of how the IFS model provides the language and resources to help mixed-status couples heal the pre and post-migratory trauma. Through the use of case studies, the workshop will address the highly stressful and potentially traumatic experiences that immigrants undergo at different stages of the migration process, and IFS interventions that support the process of healing for the couple. Approved for 3 CE Credits.

Family estrangement is extremely widespread. This will be a a deep dive into this phenomenon and look at the genogram of a family in order to deepen our understanding of the clinical material and examine the personal, relational, inter-generational, and multi-cultural aspects of this phenomena.
