About the Presenter:

Marissa Sappho

Marissa Sappho, LCSW, BCD, CEDS-S, is a dedicated clinician and educator, serving as Founder & Clinical Director at Aurora Center NYC, a pioneering yoga-based eating disorder treatment center in New York City, focusing on Binge Eating Disorder. With a full-time patient caseload, Marissa is also an Adjunct Professor at New York University and Faculty at the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia (CSAB). Committed to social justice, she co-founded the New York State Coalition of Social Workers and served as President. Marissa’s diverse clinical background includes positions in inpatient and outpatient settings, supervision, and program development. A prolific presenter and writer, she explores topics such as eating disorders, psychodynamic treatment, and social work advocacy. Currently, Marissa is developing innovative treatment models, researching binge eating symbolism, and exploring the impact of social media on intimate relationships in emerging adulthood.
