Morning Presentation:

The Existential Scream

with Holly Levenkron and Response by Patricia Ticineto Clough

Presenters Holly Levenkron and Patricia Ticineto Clough

In the discussed vignettes, malignant narcissism and dissociation of anger and shame silence authentic aspects of the self, hindering the patient/analyst relationship. Amidst societal complexities like Class, Race, Immigration, and Cultural dislocation, emotional scars compel silence to maintain stability. We'll explore the necessity of disrupting this status quo for progress, enabling the expression and exploration of the “Existential Scream.”

Afternoon Presentation:

Creativity and the Queering of the Psychotherapeutic Space

with Brian Harris and Kristin Long

Using creative arts therapy techniques can be a powerful means of accessing unconscious material in the session space while also upsetting the traditional power dynamics of the therapist-patient dyad. This workshop will use clinical case material, active participant engagement, and contemporary theories to explore how creativity can enhance and ameliorate a verbal psychotherapy process. Come ready to physically engage, play, and grow.
