A Collaborative Approach for Clinicians

This 1.5 hour introductory / intermediate level live interactive webinar will address the DSM-V criteria for a diagnosis of hoarding disorder, what and why people hoard, and the distress that is caused by compulsive hoarding. Consideration will be given to balancing the individual’s right to self-determination with concern for public health and safety.

The presentation will cover the ways to assess the levels of self-neglect and imminent risk, and how to develop a harm reduction approach and plan of care with interdisciplinary collaboration. Clinical intervention strategies based on empirical data will be discussed as well as assisting clients/ patients to be able to prepare for change and tolerate the distress involved in discarding.
About the presenter: 
Anne B. Pagano, Owner of Aging Remix and Executive Director of The Hoarding Disorder Resource and Training Group, is a licensed clinical social worker and certified geriatric care manager through NASW. She also holds certification from the Academy of Certified Social Workers and is a Board Certified Diplomat through the American Board of Examiners. She has over 40 years of practice in direct clinical services, supervision, and administration and specializes 2 in hoarding disorder cases and guardianships. Ms. Pagano served as an adjunct professor at the Fordham Univ. Graduate School of Social Services, teaching integrative seminars in gerontology and as faculty advisor for students specializing in Older Persons and their Families.
