3 Continuing Education Credits.
This workshop meets the requirements for the NYS Board of Regents' 3 hours of acceptable continuing education on issues related to maintaining appropriate professional boundaries between licensees and patients.
The therapeutic relationship is central to healing, and setting and maintaining ethical boundaries is essential to creating that relationship. This course will create a collaborative space for exploring how we define, establish, and maintain healthy boundaries within our practice, particularly in the face of new technologies and social norms that continue to create new challenges. By exploring the relationship between ethical values and boundaries, strategizing how to respond to case examples, and practicing reflective skills to refine our relationships with clients, we will strengthen our collective capacity to engage in this critical therapeutic work.
In this workshop, you'll:
- Clarify how ethical values inform boundary-setting in the clinical relationship.
- Strategize responses to real-world case examples, including challenges introduced by technology and social media.
- Practice reflective skills to strengthen use of self and therapeutic alliance.
- Develop practical guidelines to establish, communicate, and maintain healthy boundaries with clients.
Who Should Attend:
Clinicians, supervisors, and trainees seeking to refine ethical decision-making and boundary-setting skills in contemporary practice.
