This workshop explores why talking about sex is not just important\, but often essential to deep\, effective therapeutic work. Hall\, Ph.D.\, is a licensed psychologist with over four decades of experience in sex therapy and research. She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from McGill University in Montreal\, Canada\, and has since become a leading voice in the field of sex therapy. \nDr. Hall has lectured and written extensively on topics related to sexual health\, psychotherapy\, and the cultural influences on sexual well-being. Her latest book\, Talking About Sex in Psychotherapy\, is set for release by the American Psychological Association Press in November 2025. She also maintains an active private practice specializing in the treatment of sexual concerns and sits on the Special Classification Review Board\, a panel of experts appointed by the Governor of New Jersey responsible for overseeing treatment progress and determining parole readiness for incarcerated sex offenders. \nShe is passionate about mentorship\, and she provides training in sex therapy for both emerging and experienced clinicians. However research into the impact of psychedelics on sexuality is just beginning. In this interactive presentation\, clinician and author Dee Dee Goldpaugh will outline the emerging research on psychedelics and sexuality\, but go far beyond that to ask questions about how prohibiting pleasure has molded our current drug laws\, why pleasure is omitted from the narrative about psychedelic healing\, and how psychedelics can help us to embrace our erotic power for optimal sexual experiences and sexual self-actualization.  \nBased on their new book\, Embrace Pleasure: How Psychedelics Can Heal Our Sexuality\, Dee Dee will provide practical education on psychedelic preparation and integration in sex therapy practice\, explore how different psychedelic medicines impact sexual satisfaction and pleasure\, and offer a new framework for working with sexual trauma. Grounded in research\, this presentation will also strive to critique the neo-liberal and capitalist structures that exist in our society and in psychedelic science that prevent us from embracing pleasure\, creating community\, and engaging in meaningful erotic connection while centering on the uplifting message that pleasure (and psychedelics medicines) have the power to heal us.  \nAbout the Presenter: \nDee Dee Goldpaugh\, LCSW is a psychotherapist\, consultant\, educator\, and author. They are the Clinical Director of Chrysalis Integrative Psychotherapy\, the Women\, Gender Diversity\, and Sexual Minorities Advisor for The Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines\, and they are part of the Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy team at the Woodstock Therapy Center. Dee Dee has authored the first paper to appear in an academic journal describing Psychedelic Integration Psychotherapy techniques that incorporate spirituality for sexual trauma survivors. They also served as a Clinical Supervisor for the EMBARK approach to Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy in addition to having facilitated numerous Ketamine-Assisted Transformational retreats. Dee Dee has been a frequent presenter at international conferences including the Interdisciplinary Conference on Psychedelic Research\, Psychedelic Culture\, Psychedelic Science. They have over seventeen years of professional clinical experience and training in diverse modalities including EMDR\, Internal Family System\, Sex Therapy\, psychodynamic\, and transpersonal therapy models and are the author of the book Embrace Pleasure: How Psychedelics Can Heal Our Sexuality.

DESCRIPTION:Somewhere Over the Rainbow: Harm Reduction & Recovery in LGBTQIA+ Communities with Giorgio Handman\, LCSW\nOctober 8\, 15\, 22 & 29\, 2025 from 6pm-8pm on Zoom\n8 NYS CE Credits! \nHarm Reduction is an essential practice for all social workers\, especially amidst an ongoing overdose crisis. increasing inequities\, and widespread misunderstanding of substance use and mental health issues. Within the LGBTQAI community substance use is amplified by higher rates of use\, which require specifically attuned harm reduction approaches. It is imperative for social workers to have a clear framework to support themselves and those they work with. This workshop will provide participants with a familiarity and understanding of the core principles of the Harm Reduction Model. Through experiential learning that will incorporate role plays\, dialogue\, and an overview of harm reduction principles\, participants will begin/continue to learn how to apply a harm reduction lens to their clinical work within the LGBTQIA community. This workshop will also explore and discuss complementary interventions that support harm reduction work in practice. There will be an opportunity for participants to share case examples\, engage in teaching/learning and receive peer support/feedback. Ian is regularly quoted as an expert in various media\, with recent features in The Atlantic\, The New York Times\, The Economist and NPR amongst others. Ian contributes regularly on the topic of sex for CNN Health. Some kink practitioners appear to intentionally seek out these purposes from kink\, while others may experience healing as a by-product. This presentation aims to increase clinicians’ cultural competence with the diverse spectrum of kink sexualities\, relational dynamics\, and unique experiences of stigma. A brief introduction to the BDSM/Kink Community will be presented\, followed by a review of research and clinical accounts that support personal growth and healing from BDSM/Kink engagements. This 2-credit virtual Lunch and Learn will give you the tools and strategies to recognize these behaviors\, communicate effectively with coaches and staff\, and support your clients through treatment and recovery. \nWhat You’ll Walk Away With: \n\nA better understanding of how ED behaviors show up in athletes\nTips for handling tricky conversations with coaches\, colleges\, and athletic staff\nIdeas for leveraging sport as part of the healing process\nGuidelines for determining when an athlete is ready to return to play\nWays to assess and work with an athlete’s identity during treatment\n\nDon’t miss this chance to connect\, learn\, and strengthen your skills\nAbout the presenter: \n\nRiley Nickols\, PhD\, CEDS-C is a counseling and sport psychologist who specializes in working with athletes to address mental health and sport performance concerns. \nDr. Nickols obtained an MS in Sport Psychology from Ithaca College in addition to an MS in Counseling Psychology and a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University. He regularly speaks to athletes\, coaches\, and sports medicine personnel about supporting the mental health of athletes\, disordered eating\, and unbalanced exercise in sport. Additionally\, Dr. Nickols consults with eating disorder professionals on best practices for integrating exercise during eating disorder treatment and is sensitive to the unique demands of eating disorder recovery in relation to training and competing in sport. \nCurrently\, Dr. Nickols is the Senior Program Advisor for Athlete EDGE at EDCare in Denver\, CO where specialized intensive eating disorder treatment is provided for athletes. He was previously the Director of the Victory Program\, the nation’s first residential eating disorder treatment facility for athletes\, from 2013-2021 at McCallum Place in St. Louis\, Missouri. \nDr. Nickols is a member of the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee’s (USOPC) Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs) Expert Panel and is listed in the USOPC’s Mental Health Registry. He is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) and Consultant (CEDS-C) through the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals (IAEDP) and holds a certificate in the Integrated Treatment of Eating Disorders from the Contemporary Psychotherapy’s Center for the Study of Anorexia & Bulimia (CSAB) in New York\, NY. He currently serves on the Clinical Advisory Council for the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA). \nDr. Nickols is currently on the steering committee for the Eating Disorders and Body Image Special Interest Group as part of the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Division 38 (Society for Health Psychology) and was on the steering committee for Safe Exercise at Every Stage’s (SEES) Athlete Guidelines. \nDr. Nickols is a member of the Big Sky Sport Psychology Group\, Collegiate Clinical/Counseling Sport Psychology Association (CCSPA)\, American Psychological Association’s Division 47 (Exercise & Sport Psychology)\, and the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) Eating Disorders Special Interest Group. What is a therapist to do? How do we best understand the vicissitudes of sexual attraction over the lifespan of couples including the absence of attraction from the beginning of relationships to its decline over time.  \nUtilizing a narrative approach which integrates psychodynamic\, systems\, and cognitive behavioral elements\, Dr. Iasenza will discuss assessment and treatment techniques that help identify and transform intrapsychic\, interpersonal\, developmental\, and environmental factors that contribute to this emotionally challenging presenting problem. \nAbout the Presenter:  \nSuzanne Iasenza is a practicing psychologist who specializes in and writes on topics such as human sexuality\, sex therapy for individuals and couples\, sexual orientation and gender identity.
