In his private practice\, he is dedicated to helping individuals enhance their self-awareness and self-regulation through evidence-based treatments that integrate psychotherapy\, psychopharmacology\, mindfulness and lifestyle interventions. There are many paths to healing and Dr. Richman’s treatment philosophy emphasizes the transformative power of a collaborative relationship to guide clients toward growth and lasting insight. In addition to his clinical work\, Dr. Richman is an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. He completed general psychiatry residency training at Emory School of Medicine\, with supplemental certifications through the Emory Psychoanalytic Institute and Institute for Dialogic Practice. Dr. Richman completed addiction psychiatry fellowship training at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and\, as faculty\, continues to teach on issues related to substance use disorders and other addictive behaviors. She later served as the Director of the Day Treatment Program at the Renfrew Center of New York\, a treatment center specializing in eating disorders. Hall\, Ph.D\n\n\nThis event is approved for\n2 NYS CE Credits \nSex is a central part of the human experience\, yet it remains one of the most elusive topics in psychotherapy. This workshop explores why talking about sex is not just important\, but often essential to deep\, effective therapeutic work. When approached thoughtfully\, discussions about sexuality can strengthen the therapeutic alliance\, reinforce boundaries\, and invite access to core aspects of a patient’s inner world\, including identity\, intimacy\, shame\, desire\, and relational dynamics. \nWe will examine how conversations about sex can help move therapy forward when patients are stuck\, evasive\, or when deeper psychological material is trying to emerge. The workshop will also offer practical guidance on how to initiate and navigate these conversations—whether during an initial evaluation or as part of ongoing psychotherapy. \nThrough detailed clinical case discussions and open dialogue\, participants will learn to recognize opportunities to bring sexuality into the room in ways that are clinically meaningful and ethically sound. Questions\, discussion\, and reflection on participants’ own clinical experiences will be welcomed throughout the presentation. \nAbout the Presenter:  \nKathryn S.K. Hall\, Ph.D.\, is a licensed psychologist with over four decades of experience in sex therapy and research. She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from McGill University in Montreal\, Canada\, and has since become a leading voice in the field of sex therapy. \nDr. Hall has lectured and written extensively on topics related to sexual health\, psychotherapy\, and the cultural influences on sexual well-being. Her latest book\, Talking About Sex in Psychotherapy\, is set for release by the American Psychological Association Press in November 2025. She also maintains an active private practice specializing in the treatment of sexual concerns and sits on the Special Classification Review Board\, a panel of experts appointed by the Governor of New Jersey responsible for overseeing treatment progress and determining parole readiness for incarcerated sex offenders. \nShe is passionate about mentorship\, and she provides training in sex therapy for both emerging and experienced clinicians. Grounded in research\, this presentation will also strive to critique the neo-liberal and capitalist structures that exist in our society and in psychedelic science that prevent us from embracing pleasure\, creating community\, and engaging in meaningful erotic connection while centering on the uplifting message that pleasure (and psychedelics medicines) have the power to heal us.  \nAbout the Presenter: \nDee Dee Goldpaugh\, LCSW is a psychotherapist\, consultant\, educator\, and author. They are the Clinical Director of Chrysalis Integrative Psychotherapy\, the Women\, Gender Diversity\, and Sexual Minorities Advisor for The Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines\, and they are part of the Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy team at the Woodstock Therapy Center. Dee Dee has authored the first paper to appear in an academic journal describing Psychedelic Integration Psychotherapy techniques that incorporate spirituality for sexual trauma survivors. They also served as a Clinical Supervisor for the EMBARK approach to Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy in addition to having facilitated numerous Ketamine-Assisted Transformational retreats. Dee Dee has been a frequent presenter at international conferences including the Interdisciplinary Conference on Psychedelic Research\, Psychedelic Culture\, Psychedelic Science. They have over seventeen years of professional clinical experience and training in diverse modalities including EMDR\, Internal Family System\, Sex Therapy\, psychodynamic\, and transpersonal therapy models and are the author of the book Embrace Pleasure: How Psychedelics Can Heal Our Sexuality.

Case studies will be regularly referenced and discussed. \nAbout the Presenter:  \nIan Kerner\, PhD\, LMFT is a licensed psychotherapist and nationally recognized sexuality counselor who specializes in sex therapy\, couples therapy and working with individuals on a range of relational issues that often lead to distress. Ian is regularly quoted as an expert in various media\, with recent features in The Atlantic\, The New York Times\, The Economist and NPR amongst others. Ian contributes regularly on the topic of sex for CNN Health. He lectures frequently on topics related to sex and relationships\, with recent presentations at New York University\, Yale\, Princeton and the Ackerman Institute. Ian is the New York Times best-selling author of She Comes First (Harper Collins) which has been translated into more than a dozen languages. Some kink practitioners appear to intentionally seek out these purposes from kink\, while others may experience healing as a by-product. This presentation aims to increase clinicians’ cultural competence with the diverse spectrum of kink sexualities\, relational dynamics\, and unique experiences of stigma. A brief introduction to the BDSM/Kink Community will be presented\, followed by a review of research and clinical accounts that support personal growth and healing from BDSM/Kink engagements. The risks and benefits of trauma-informed kink play for psychosomatic healing will also be reviewed and discussed. \nOver the course of this workshop\, attendees will learn common myths about BDSM Practitioners\, learn least 3 ways BDSM/Kink can facilitate personal growth and healing from trauma\, and be taught to identify potential risks to using BDSM/kink activities for psychological and somatic healing. \n\nAbout the Presenter: \n\n\n\nDr. Shveta Mittal is a licensed therapist\, certified psychedelic practitioner\, and leather lifestylist with more than a decade of experience helping clients develop a better understanding of themselves while facilitating improved coping\, insight and personal growth. This workshop will provide a theoretical  understanding as well as clinical techniques in working with sexuality concerns of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Case material will be discussed. \nIn this four-part series\, participants will: \n\nDiscuss how to create a safe therapeutic environment for survivors\nIdentify important aspects of assessment of childhood sexual abuse\nDescribe the central role of shame for survivors\nDescribe the use of a culturally sensitive relational sexual history to support sexual healing\nList clinical techniques that help survivors safely become more sexual\n\nAbout the Presenter: \n\n\n\nSuzanne Iasenza\, PhD is on the faculties of the Adelphi University Derner Institute’s Postgraduate Program in Psychoanalysis\, and the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP)\, where she is Co-Founder of the Sex Therapy Training Program (STP). She also teaches at the Ackerman Institute for the Family\, the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy and the Family Institute of Westchester. She maintains a private practice in psychotherapy and sex therapy in New York. DESCRIPTION:Join us to learn more about ICP’s certificate program in Family and Couples Training – an exceptional psychotherapy training opportunity in NYC!\nICP’s Family and Couples Training Program has provided a cutting-edge approach to a diverse group of trainees for over 35 years. \nCase examples will be offered with Q&A\, as well as a chance to schedule a follow-up after the open house. \nThe program begins in September for those who will have a graduate degree in a licensable mental health profession by Fall 2025. Clinical hours spent with ICP patients count toward licensure. \nPlease inquire about our E. Kitch Childs Equity scholarship which provides full tuition for one candidate each year.
