DESCRIPTION:The Importance of Recognizing Different Trauma Syndromes and Their Neurobiological Differences with Antonieta Contreras\n \n\n\nThursday\, May 29th\, 2025 \n5:30 – 7:30 pm EST \nvirtual on Zoom\n2 CE credits \n  \nThis 2-hour workshop explores how trauma rewires the brain at different developmental stages and under various circumstances\, showing that not all trauma fits the PTSD diagnosis. \nWe’ll examine trauma’s impact on the nervous system\, common misdiagnoses\, and differences between early neglect\, adolescent violence\, and systemic adversity. Participants will learn how factors like age\, type\, intensity\, and timing of trauma shape symptoms and guide intervention. Understanding these distinctions improves treatment by aligning interventions with each individual’s neurobiological adaptations. \nThe workshop emphasizes the importance of recognizing diverse trauma syndromes to support deeper healing and recovery. \nAntonieta Contreras\, a former banker and business consultant trained as a mathematician\, is a Gestalt-trained psychotherapist with a Master’s in Social Work from NYU. She specializes in trauma\, holding certifications from the Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapy and NYU School of Medicine. Antonieta combines trauma modalities and contemplative practices learned in India and Tibetan Buddhism in her private practice. She serves as Board Member and Treasurer for the NYC Trauma Therapists\, and as a consultant\, supervisor\, and former co-director of ICP’s Trauma Studies Program. DESCRIPTION:The Challenges of Working with Mixed-Status Immigrant Couples: Using IFS and Relational Approaches\n\nwith Rosa Bramble Caballero\, LCSW-R\nSaturday\, April 6th from 10am-1pm on Zoom and in-person at ICP \n  \nOffered in-person and virtually via Zoom!\nApproved for 3 CE Credits!\nImmigration into the United States is fraught with challenges and traumatic experiences\, largely unaddressed by couple’s therapy. The current anti-immigrant\, socio-political atmosphere contributes to a climate where immigrants are seen as undesirable\, and a threat to the economy\, safety\, and culture. Moreover\, recent priorities for raids and deportation are affecting the everyday fabric of daily life for this population. Immigrant and mixed-status couples are experiencing traumatic stress affecting their relational dynamics.\nThe goal of the workshop is for participants to gain an understanding of how the IFS model provides the language and resources to help mixed-status couples heal the pre and post-migratory trauma. Through the use of case studies\, the workshop will address the highly stressful and potentially traumatic experiences that immigrants undergo at different stages of the migration process\, and IFS interventions that support the process of healing for the couple. \nAbout Presenter:  \nRosa Maria Bramble Caballero\, LCSW-R\, is a Certified IFS Therapist. She’s the President of Caballero Consulting Services where she specializes in the treatment of trauma survivors. She is also L2 trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy\, EMDR\, and Coherent Breathing. She facilitates supervision\, and workshops and provides organizational capacity building in the areas of migration trauma\, diversity and inclusion\, maternal infant health\, community violence intervention\, and vicarious traumatization.
