DESCRIPTION:Embrace Pleasure: How Psychedelics Can Heal Our Sexuality\nAn Interactive Workshop on Sex\, Psychedelics\, and The Power of Pleasure\n\nwith DeeDee Goldpaugh\, LCSW\nThursday\, October 9\, 2025 from 7:00PM-9:00PM on Zoom\n2 NYS CE and AASECT Credits! \n\nAfter several decades of clinical research into their therapeutic potential\, psychedelic medicines in clinical contexts stand to shift the paradigm of how we have approached the treatment of depression\, anxiety\, trauma\, and other mental health issues. However research into the impact of psychedelics on sexuality is just beginning. In this interactive presentation\, clinician and author Dee Dee Goldpaugh will outline the emerging research on psychedelics and sexuality\, but go far beyond that to ask questions about how prohibiting pleasure has molded our current drug laws\, why pleasure is omitted from the narrative about psychedelic healing\, and how psychedelics can help us to embrace our erotic power for optimal sexual experiences and sexual self-actualization.  \nBased on their new book\, Embrace Pleasure: How Psychedelics Can Heal Our Sexuality\, Dee Dee will provide practical education on psychedelic preparation and integration in sex therapy practice\, explore how different psychedelic medicines impact sexual satisfaction and pleasure\, and offer a new framework for working with sexual trauma. Grounded in research\, this presentation will also strive to critique the neo-liberal and capitalist structures that exist in our society and in psychedelic science that prevent us from embracing pleasure\, creating community\, and engaging in meaningful erotic connection while centering on the uplifting message that pleasure (and psychedelics medicines) have the power to heal us.  \nAbout the Presenter: \nDee Dee Goldpaugh\, LCSW is a psychotherapist\, consultant\, educator\, and author. They are the Clinical Director of Chrysalis Integrative Psychotherapy\, the Women\, Gender Diversity\, and Sexual Minorities Advisor for The Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines\, and they are part of the Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy team at the Woodstock Therapy Center. Dee Dee has authored the first paper to appear in an academic journal describing Psychedelic Integration Psychotherapy techniques that incorporate spirituality for sexual trauma survivors. They also served as a Clinical Supervisor for the EMBARK approach to Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy in addition to having facilitated numerous Ketamine-Assisted Transformational retreats. Dee Dee has been a frequent presenter at international conferences including the Interdisciplinary Conference on Psychedelic Research\, Psychedelic Culture\, Psychedelic Science. They have over seventeen years of professional clinical experience and training in diverse modalities including EMDR\, Internal Family System\, Sex Therapy\, psychodynamic\, and transpersonal therapy models and are the author of the book Embrace Pleasure: How Psychedelics Can Heal Our Sexuality.

DESCRIPTION:The Sexually Well-Informed Clinician: Principles and Practices of Sex Therapy\n \nwith Ian Kerner\, PhD\, LMFT\nFridays; October 3\, 10\, 17\, 24\, 31\, November 7\, 21\, December 5\, 12\, and 19\, 2025 from 9:30AM-11:30AM EST on Zoom\nThis event is approved for approved for 20 AASECT CE + 20 NYS CE Credits \nThis workshop will survey the history of sex therapy and delineate models of human sexual response; it will address therapist self-location when dealing with both heterosexual and LGBTQ sexual issues and cover assessment of sexual concerns and case formulation: how to take a sexual history\, conduct a sex-script analysis and use validated scales and measures to diagnose sex issues. Therapeutic interventions will be covered\, including cognitive-behavioral\, psychodynamic\, psychoeducational\, and pharmacological approaches. We will address common sex problems\, including desire\, arousal and orgasm issues. We will be paying close attention to the development and deepening of the therapeutic alliance and the processing of clinical material that happens both in the room and in between sessions through homework assignments. Case studies will be regularly referenced and discussed. \nAbout the Presenter:  \nIan Kerner\, PhD\, LMFT is a licensed psychotherapist and nationally recognized sexuality counselor who specializes in sex therapy\, couples therapy and working with individuals on a range of relational issues that often lead to distress. Ian is regularly quoted as an expert in various media\, with recent features in The Atlantic\, The New York Times\, The Economist and NPR amongst others. Ian contributes regularly on the topic of sex for CNN Health. He lectures frequently on topics related to sex and relationships\, with recent presentations at New York University\, Yale\, Princeton and the Ackerman Institute. Ian is the New York Times best-selling author of She Comes First (Harper Collins) which has been translated into more than a dozen languages. In addition to being a Clinical Fellow of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT)\, Ian is certified by the American Association of Sexuality Educators\, Counselors and Therapists and is also a member of the American Family Therapy Academy (AFTA). \nRegistration for this course has closed.

DESCRIPTION:Kink and Healing\nwith Shveta Mittal\, PhD\nThursday\, June 26\, 2025 from 7:00PM-9:00PM on Zoom\n2 NYS CE and AASECT Credits! \n\nEmerging research demonstrates that BDSM/kink can assist individuals in healing from past trauma. Some kink practitioners appear to intentionally seek out these purposes from kink\, while others may experience healing as a by-product. This presentation aims to increase clinicians’ cultural competence with the diverse spectrum of kink sexualities\, relational dynamics\, and unique experiences of stigma. A brief introduction to the BDSM/Kink Community will be presented\, followed by a review of research and clinical accounts that support personal growth and healing from BDSM/Kink engagements. The risks and benefits of trauma-informed kink play for psychosomatic healing will also be reviewed and discussed. \nOver the course of this workshop\, attendees will learn common myths about BDSM Practitioners\, learn least 3 ways BDSM/Kink can facilitate personal growth and healing from trauma\, and be taught to identify potential risks to using BDSM/kink activities for psychological and somatic healing. \n\nAbout the Presenter: \n\n\n\nDr. Shveta Mittal is a licensed therapist\, certified psychedelic practitioner\, and leather lifestylist with more than a decade of experience helping clients develop a better understanding of themselves while facilitating improved coping\, insight and personal growth. She has worked specifically with first responders and individuals holding multiple minority identities\, providing culturally competent care from a sex-positive\, person-centered\, trauma-informed lens. This workshop will provide a theoretical  understanding as well as clinical techniques in working with sexuality concerns of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Case material will be discussed. \nIn this four-part series\, participants will: \n\nDiscuss how to create a safe therapeutic environment for survivors\nIdentify important aspects of assessment of childhood sexual abuse\nDescribe the central role of shame for survivors\nDescribe the use of a culturally sensitive relational sexual history to support sexual healing\nList clinical techniques that help survivors safely become more sexual\n\nAbout the Presenter: \n\n\n\nSuzanne Iasenza\, PhD is on the faculties of the Adelphi University Derner Institute’s Postgraduate Program in Psychoanalysis\, and the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP)\, where she is Co-Founder of the Sex Therapy Training Program (STP). She also teaches at the Ackerman Institute for the Family\, the Westchester Center for the Study of Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy and the Family Institute of Westchester.
