SUMMARY:Best Practices in Suicide-Safer Care 2026
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is a requirement for all interns/candidates in all programs* \nThis workshop is offered at no cost to participants\nIn-person at ICP \n\nChoose one: \n\n\nMonday\, October 5th\, 2026 - 9am-11am with Alexi Saldamando\, LCSW-R\nFriday\, October 9th\, 2026 - 2pm-4pm with Paige Lorette\, LMHC-D\n\nRSVP HERE\nIn this 2-hour workshop\, clinicians will learn AIM for Zero\, New York State’s model for integrating suicide prevention into behavioral healthcare. Best practices in screening and assessing for suicide risk\, interventions for those at risk\, and monitoring risk in outpatient settings will be discussed\, as well as understanding the impact of one’s own beliefs and feelings about suicide in working with suicidal individuals. \n  \nAlexi Saldamando\, LCSW-R – As the Director of\nClinical Initiatives for the Office of Mental\nHealth’s Suicide Prevention Center of New\nYork (SPCNY)\, Alexi leads and helps\ndevelop a wide range of suicide prevention\ninitiatives for behavioral healthcare\nproviders across New York State\, with the\ngoal of implementing suicide-safer care practices. \nPaige Lorette\, LMHC-D – Paige has been in the field of\,\nmental health for 10 years. After completing a\nMasters in Counseling and Community\nPsychology\, she worked in prevention with the\njuvenile justice population and began clinical\nwork as a Functional Family Therapist in\nSchenectady County. She started her work\nwith SPCNY as the Training and Postvention\nCoordinator in the Summer of 2022. \n2 NYSED CE credits \n*This workshop is a graduation requirement for candidates and interns in all programs. Candidates who are not graduating from their training program this year can attend this year\, next year\, or any other year before graduation. Any candidates who have already taken this workshop have fulfilled the requirement and do not have to take it again.
