We invite current candidates\, graduates\, supervisors\, and alumni—both recent and longstanding—to join one or more of these discussions\, led by our esteemed instructor and supervisor Rose Latino. \nThis is a chance to engage in meaningful conversations and earn continuing education credits in a relaxed\, non-academic setting. Together\, we’ll explore contemporary trauma-related readings\, from memoirs to books on treatment philosophies\, offering space to share your thoughts and feelings. \nEach book will be discussed over two sessions. You can register for as many groups as your time and interest allow. Dr. Jacobson has lectured at numerous conferences and webinars for various organizations and Universities including the International Society for Sexual Medicine. He has taught courses on numerous topics concerning sexual health and sex therapy interventions that are ethically grounded and clinically applicable. He is the author of Sex Therapy with Religious Patients: Working with Jewish\, Christian\, and Muslim Communities. Dr. Jacobs has extensive training and experience using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (CBT)\, Family Based Treatment (FBT)\, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)\, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to treat eating disorders\, anxiety disorders\, OCD and related disorders\, substance abuse\, personality disorders\, as well as varying behavioral and emotional challenges. In addition to conducting individual\, couples and family therapy\, Dr. Jacobs leads CBT and DBT skills training groups. Dr. Jacobs uses her breadth and depth of knowledge to individually tailor treatment to the children\, adolescents and adults with whom she works. Dr. Jacobs received her undergraduate degree from Binghamton University\, her master’s degree (MHC) from Brooklyn College\, and her doctoral degree (Ph.D.) from Fairleigh Dickinson University. While practicing as a clinical psychologist at the Mount Sinai Health System\, Dr. Jacobs also previously held roles as the Program Director of the Mount Sinai Eating and Weight Disorder Program’s Adolescent Intensive Care program\, as well as Director of Outreach and Prevention. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Center for Motivation and Change (CMC) treating substance abuse disorders and co-occurring disorders within outpatient and intensive outpatient/day program settings. DESCRIPTION:In-Person Lecture: Risking Intimacy and Creative Transformation in Psychoanalysis\, \nLauren Levine\, PhD \n \nIn this presentation\, I will consider the transformative power of stories to create shared symbolic meaning and coherence out of ungrieved trauma. Through evocative clinical stories\, I'll explore creativity as transformative\, emergent in the clinical process\, drawing on film\, dance\, and dreams as frames for experience exceeding what words alone can capture. In analysis\, we dwell in stories\, in associations\, echoes and reverberations. Apres coup. In the enigmatic and ineffable.
