We invite current candidates\, graduates\, supervisors\, and alumni—both recent and longstanding—to join one or more of these discussions\, led by our esteemed instructor and supervisor Rose Latino. \nThis is a chance to engage in meaningful conversations and earn continuing education credits in a relaxed\, non-academic setting. Together\, we’ll explore contemporary trauma-related readings\, from memoirs to books on treatment philosophies\, offering space to share your thoughts and feelings. \nEach book will be discussed over two sessions. You can register for as many groups as your time and interest allow. Join us in transforming the way you support your clients—sign up today and take the next step in your professional journey! \n\nAbout the presenter: \n\nStephanie Jacobs\, phd is a licensed clinical psychologist\, who works with adults\, adolescents\, children\, families\, schools and organizations. Dr. Jacobs has extensive training and experience using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (CBT)\, Family Based Treatment (FBT)\, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)\, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to treat eating disorders\, anxiety disorders\, OCD and related disorders\, substance abuse\, personality disorders\, as well as varying behavioral and emotional challenges. In addition to conducting individual\, couples and family therapy\, Dr. Jacobs leads CBT and DBT skills training groups. Dr. Jacobs uses her breadth and depth of knowledge to individually tailor treatment to the children\, adolescents and adults with whom she works. Dr. Jacobs received her undergraduate degree from Binghamton University\, her master’s degree (MHC) from Brooklyn College\, and her doctoral degree (Ph.D.) from Fairleigh Dickinson University. While practicing as a clinical psychologist at the Mount Sinai Health System\, Dr. Jacobs also previously held roles as the Program Director of the Mount Sinai Eating and Weight Disorder Program’s Adolescent Intensive Care program\, as well as Director of Outreach and Prevention. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Center for Motivation and Change (CMC) treating substance abuse disorders and co-occurring disorders within outpatient and intensive outpatient/day program settings. Facilitated by Anastasia Nevins\, whose approach is rooted in intuitive eating and a holistic\, compassionate understanding of recovery\, this session prioritizes coming home to the body and soul through somatic and yoga-inspired practices. \nKey Takeaways: \n\nUnderstand the Importance of Somatic Approaches: Learn how reconnecting with the body can promote healing from disordered eating patterns and trauma.\nObserve Nervous System States in Real Time: Identify how trauma impacts our nervous system and affects our ability to eat and nourish ourselves.\nMindfulness and Self-Awareness for Embodiment: Explore techniques for fostering mindfulness\, self-awareness\, and body connection in yourself and your clients.\nUtilize Somatic Practices in Client Sessions: Gain practical tools for integrating somatic approaches during therapy to support clients in their healing journey.\n\nThis workshop emphasizes experiential learning\, with opportunities for lecture\, discussion\, meditation\, and gentle movement. Participants will be invited to engage deeply with these practices\, observe their impact on their own body\, and learn how to better support their clients’ recovery using trauma-informed\, body-centered techniques. \nAbout the Presenter:  \nAnastasia Nevin MS\, RDN\, CEDRD-C\, SEP (she/her) is a Certified Eating Disorder Registered Dietitian\, Clinical Supervisor\, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and Yoga Instructor who specializes in the relationship between body\, food\, and trauma. \nAnastasia’s approach is rooted in a non-diet\, weight inclusive\, holistic & compassionate understanding of recovery which incorporates the body into healing. She helps clients (re)learn how to nourish themselves physically and spiritually. \nAnastasia offers nutrition therapy and somatic sessions that support healing from disordered eating and trauma. She uses her warmth as well as her own recovery from an eating disorder to lovingly challenge and empower clients to heal their own relationship to food\, while finding safety and regulation in their body and nervous system. \nAnastasia graduated from Stanford University with Honors in Psychology.  She went on to complete her Masters in Nutrition Education at Columbia University’s Teachers College. Anastasia has worked at both partial hospitalization and day treatment levels of care within eating disorder treatment program settings in NYC\, and was Monte Nido’s Manhattan’s first Lead Dietitian and Yoga Therapist. She has had a thriving private practice for over a decade. \nAnastasia received her yoga training at her beloved home studio Laughing Lotus where she taught dynamic\, musical vinyasa flow classes for many years. She has studied Ayurveda (India's ancient holistic medicine system)\, Restorative Yoga\, Yoga Nidra\, Chakras and Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy and loves bringing these mind-body-energy practices into an integrative\, trauma-informed\, therapeutic treatment model. \nIn 2022\, Anastasia completed the three year certification program to become an SEP (Somatic Experiencing Practitioner). Somatic Experiencing Trauma Therapy is a body-based\, naturalistic approach to healing trauma founded by Dr. Peter Levine. Anastasia is particularly interested in the areas of chronic pain/chronic illness\, sexual trauma\, and trans/inter-generational trauma. She is honored to be an assistant for ongoing SE trainings. \nAnastasia is the founder of Anastasia Health\, and is a member of IAEDP New York Chapter (International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals) and IFEDD (International Federation of Eating Disorder Dietitians).
