We invite current candidates\, graduates\, supervisors\, and alumni—both recent and longstanding—to join one or more of these discussions\, led by our esteemed instructor and supervisor Rose Latino. \nThis is a chance to engage in meaningful conversations and earn continuing education credits in a relaxed\, non-academic setting. Together\, we’ll explore contemporary trauma-related readings\, from memoirs to books on treatment philosophies\, offering space to share your thoughts and feelings. \nEach book will be discussed over two sessions. You can register for as many groups as your time and interest allow. She has worked at Kingsboro Psychiatric Center\, Holliswood Hospital\, and the Renfrew Center of New York\, where she served as Clinical Supervisor. Schneer has also taught trauma and eating disorder courses at the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia for over 18 years. Schneer currently maintains a private practice in NYC.

DESCRIPTION:The Gendered Body as Home:\nTwo Analysts’ Journeys “Coming Out” to Their Patients\n  \nwith Gabriel DeCicco\, LCSW-R and\nBalin Anderson\, LCSW with\nSandra Silverman as discussant\nFriday\, November 15th\, 2024 7pm-9pm\nRefreshments and conversation at 9 following the lecture\n  \nApproved for 2 NYS CE Credits!\nTogether\, Gabriel DeCicco\, LCSW and Balin Anderson\, LCSW explore the clinical impacts of an analyst’s pregnancy and an analyst’s gender transition; the attendant body changes impact treatment in significant ways. Transitioning to a congruent gender identity or choosing to gestate brings a therapist face to face with their own embodiment; heightened attention to embodiment saturates the therapeutic dyad. A pregnant body is home to the growing baby; a pregnant person grapples with feeling at home with oneself alongside unprecedented changes. A gender transition reflects an effort to come home to one’s body; to belong within the contours of one’s own body. Balin and Gabriel will highlight the interplay of gender\, sexuality\, and identity inherent in these embodied gestational experiences - that of the analyst giving birth and of the analyst being re-born. \nAbout the Presenters: \nGabriel DeCicco\, LCSW-R is a transgender psychoanalyst who has worked in the field of mental health for 20 years. He has an MSW from NYU School of Social Work and is a graduate of both the Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program and the Psychoanalytic Program at ICP. He was a Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU Langone Medical Center from 2008 to 2015. He is the President of DeCicco Psychotherapy & Consulting\, LLC\, and has a full-time private practice in Manhattan\, where he sees patients both in-person and virtually in the tri-state area. \nBalin Anderson\, LCSW\nA psychoanalyst in private practice in Denver\, Colorado\, Balin Anderson LCSW is a graduate of the ICP's Psychoanalytic Program. She earned her MSW from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis\, Missouri. Balin began her career as a social worker at Planned Parenthood of New York City; she also served as a medical interpreter for Spanish-speaking patients. Balin is a faculty member at the Denver Institute for Psychoanalysis. \nSandra Silverman\, LCSW\n \nSandra Silverman LCSW is faculty and supervisor at ICP\, NIP\, and the Stephen Mitchell Center for Relational Studies where she is also co-chair of the committee on Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion. DESCRIPTION:Hoarding Disorder: \nA Collaborative Approach for Clinicians \nwith Anne Pagano\, LCSW\nSunday\, November 17th\, 2024\, from 10:30am-12pm on Zoom\n  \nApproved for 1.5 NYS CE Credits! \nThis 1.5 hour introductory / intermediate level live interactive webinar will address the DSM-V criteria for a diagnosis of hoarding disorder\, what and why people hoard\, and the distress that is caused by compulsive hoarding. Consideration will be given to balancing the individual’s right to self-determination with concern for public health and safety. \nThe presentation will cover the ways to assess the levels of self-neglect and imminent risk\, and how to develop a harm reduction approach and plan of care with interdisciplinary collaboration. Clinical intervention strategies based on empirical data will be discussed as well as assisting clients/ patients to be able to prepare for change and tolerate the distress involved in discarding.\n\nAbout the presenter: \nAnne B. Pagano\, Owner of Aging Remix and Executive Director of The Hoarding Disorder Resource and Training Group\, is a licensed clinical social worker and certified geriatric care manager through NASW. She also holds certification from the Academy of Certified Social Workers and is a Board Certified Diplomat through the American Board of Examiners. She has over 40 years of practice in direct clinical services\, supervision\, and administration and specializes 2 in hoarding disorder cases and guardianships. Ms. Pagano served as an adjunct professor at the Fordham Univ.
