This seminar will guide you through: \n\nThe key differences between disordered eating and eating disorders\nIdentifying subclinical or off-label eating disorders\nRecognizing early signs of eating disorders across various age groups\n\nWhile the DSM-V provides clear distinctions between various eating disorders\, real-world diagnosis often requires a more nuanced approach. Using the DSM as our diagnostic guide\, we will explore clinical examples and engage with participant cases and questions to clarify what constitutes an eating disorder. \nAbout the Presenter: \nJacob Pine\n \nJacob Pine is a licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice in Manhattan.  He grew up in New York City\, and did his undergraduate studies at The Johns Hopkins University and The Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.  He earned his Masters degree in social work from Fordham University\, and received his certificate in the integrated treatment of eating disorders from the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia\, a division of the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy\, a psychoanalytic training institute in Manhattan. \nAfter college\, Jacob had a long and successful career as a chef in and around NYC.  He became interested in understanding more deeply the relationships people have with food and diet.  He returned to school and began a new career.  His love and study of music\, and his appreciation and knowledge of food permeate the work he does. DESCRIPTION:The Sexually Well-Informed Clinician: Principles and Practices of Sex Therapy\n \nwith Ian Kerner\, PhD\, LMFT\nFridays; September 20\, 27\, October 11\, 18\, 25 \, November 1\, 8\, 22\, December 6\, 13\, 20\, 2024 from 9:30AM-11:30AM EST on Zoom\nThis event is approved for approved for 20 AASECT CE + 20 NYS CE Credits \nThis workshop will survey the history of sex therapy and delineate models of human sexual response; it will address therapist self-location when dealing with both heterosexual and LGBTQ sexual issues and cover assessment of sexual concerns and case formulation: how to take a sexual history\, conduct a sex-script analysis and use validated scales and measures to diagnose sex issues. Therapeutic interventions will be covered\, including cognitive-behavioral\, psychodynamic\, psychoeducational\, and pharmacological approaches. We will address common sex problems\, including desire\, arousal and orgasm issues. We will be paying close attention to the development and deepening of the therapeutic alliance and the processing of clinical material that happens both in the room and in between sessions through homework assignments. Case studies will be regularly referenced and discussed. \nAbout the Presenter:  \nIan Kerner\, PhD\, LMFT is a licensed psychotherapist and nationally recognized sexuality counselor who specializes in sex therapy\, couples therapy and working with individuals on a range of relational issues that often lead to distress. Ian is regularly quoted as an expert in various media\, with recent features in The Atlantic\, The New York Times\, The Economist and NPR amongst others. Ian contributes regularly on the topic of sex for CNN Health. He lectures frequently on topics related to sex and relationships\, with recent presentations at New York University\, Yale\, Princeton and the Ackerman Institute. Ian is the New York Times best-selling author of She Comes First (Harper Collins) which has been translated into more than a dozen languages.
