Now a mother of two neurodivergent children\, her focus has shifted away from working directly with clients and instead towards training the next generation of pro-neurodiversity professionals. Kelli holds a M.A. in Marriage & Family Therapy from Richmont Graduate University with a specialization in Christian Sex Therapy. She is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapists (AAMFT) and a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Georgia. Her text Neurodiverse Couple Therapy: A Practical Guide to Brain-Informed Care is recognized worldwide. \n\n\n  \n  \n  \n  \nAri Tuckman\, PsyD is a psychologist\, international presenter\, author\, and ADHD thought leader. He has given more than 800 presentations and podcast interviews and routinely earns excellent reviews for his ability to make complicated information understandable and useful. Over the course of twenty-five years of private practice\, he has done more than 40\,000 client hours\, specializing in ADHD in teens\, adults\, families\, and couples. He is the author of five books\, including his newest\, The ADHD Productivity Manual. An active volunteer\, he is a co-chair of CHADD’s conference committee and was awarded the 2023 Hall of Fame award for his significant contributions to the field. A popular expert and advocate\, he has been widely quoted in national media such as The New York Times\, CNN\, Washington Post\, and Boston Globe\, and serves as an expert for Understood.org. That is\, that transference-countertransference processes are present in most clinical activity\, even when what’s going on seems\nordinary. A case presentation will highlight how analysts and patients engage in these ongoing enactive processes in very brief time frames of seconds to minutes. This seminar will apply and elaborate the themes of the Friday evening lecture on microenactments and the internal world \n\n\nPresenters\n\nStephen Seligman\, DMH is Clinical Professor\, Department of Psychiatry at the University of California\, San Francisco and at the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychoanalysis; Training and Supervising Analyst\, San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California. He is the author of Relationships in Development: Infancy\, Intersubjectivity\, Attachment (Routledge\, 2018); co-editor of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health: Core Concepts and Clinical Practice; and Editor Emeritus of Psychoanalytic Dialogues. Dr. Seligman is the author of over 100 articles\, chapters and reviews\, many of which take up the intersection of infancy\, the infantile and psychoanalytic theory and practice. We are happy to offer a reduced rate when needed to ensure accessibility. \n\n\n\nFebruary 27 - Friday Night Lecture\nStephen Seligman\, DMH\, in conversation with Ed Corrigan\, PhD \n7:00–9:00 PM\nIn-Person at ICP\n2 NYS CE Credits\nRefreshments and conversation at 9:00 PM following the lecture \nLike infants and parents\, patients and therapists affect one another in multiple pathways\, in very short time intervals as well as over hours\, weeks\, months and years.\nThis presentation will look at how very close attention to brief moments of analytic interaction—seconds to minutes--can lead to new insight about deep\, emotionallyladen patterns of relating. These interactions can be upsetting and deadening\, enlivening and transformative. But even those that seem “just routine” can disclose much meaning: More often than we realize\, ordinary "technical" choices reflect our participation in enactments that can easily go unnoticed. Relational and object relations theories\, infant observation research\, traditional Freudian concepts will be taken up\, and video of infant-parent interaction will be offered. \n\n\nPresenters\n\nStephen Seligman\, DMH is Clinical Professor\, Department of Psychiatry at the University of California\, San Francisco and at the NYU Postdoctoral Program in Psychoanalysis; Training and Supervising Analyst\, San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California. He is the author of Relationships in Development: Infancy\, Intersubjectivity\, Attachment (Routledge\, 2018); co-editor of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health: Core Concepts and Clinical Practice; and Editor Emeritus of Psychoanalytic Dialogues. Dr. Seligman is the author of over 100 articles\, chapters and reviews\, many of which take up the intersection of infancy\, the infantile and psychoanalytic theory and practice. He has been involved in the development of the original “Fraiberg model” of infant-parent psychotherapy for several decades.\n\nEd Corrigan graduated from ICP back in the mists of time in the 70s. He has been supervising and teaching there for decades\, focusing on Winnicott\, the British middle school\, and infant research. He is the author\, with Pearl-Ellen Gordon\, of The Mind Object: Precocity and Pathology of Self-Sufficiency (1995). More recently Ed organized and edited Adam Phillips’ The Cure for Psychoanalysis\, which includes essays by members of the ICP community. Therapists will be prepared to show up as more compassionate\, survivor-oriented\, actionable resources for sexual assault survivors and their partners and loved ones. While sex after sexual assault is often swept under the rug or ignored\, we all benefit from talking about it more openly. What did sexual assault survivors have to say about their own healing journeys? How did their therapists and communities show up to support their post-assault sex life?\n\n\nPresenter\n\nKatie Simon is a sexuality journalist and author of Tell Me What You Like: An Honest Discussion of Sex and Intimacy After Sexual Assault. Their writing has previously appeared in the New York Times\, New York Magazine\, Vogue\, The Washington Post\, Playboy\, and Women's Health. Katie studied creative writing\, marketing\, and narrative medicine at New York University\, the University of East Anglia\, and Columbia University. \nThey are collaborating on research about coping skills and sources of support for survivors reclaiming their sexuality after sexual assault\, and working on a new project about the roles our exes play in the rest of our lives.  \n\n\n\n  \n  \n  \nKatie Simon (they/them) has written for The New York Times\, The Washington Post\, Vogue\, BuzzFeed\, Tin House\, Health\, BUST\, Women's Health\, and elsewhere\, including the anthology Anatomy of Silence. \nKatie earned a BA in Contemporary Storytelling at New York University and an MA in Biography and Creative Nonfiction Writing at the University of East Anglia. They studied Narrative Medicine at Columbia University and completed the Memoir Incubator at Grub Street in Boston\, MA\, and the Human Sexuality Intensive at the Kinsey Institute. \nTheir first nonfiction book\, Tell Me What You Like: An Honest Discussion of Sex and Intimacy After Sexual Assault\, about the sex lives of sexual assault survivors\, came out in 2025 to a positive reception from Oprah Daily\, The Cut\, Playboy\, Vogue\, Dan Savage\, NPR\, Amanda Knox\, the Queer Love Project\, and more. \nThey are seeking a new literary agent who specializes in nonfiction and live in Texas with their dog\, Babka. \n  \nCo-host: Laura Levitt\, LCSW\, is a trauma therapist based in Brooklyn\, NY. Laura holds an MSW from Columbia School of Social Work. She is a graduate of the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy’s Integrated Trauma Training Program and currently serves as the Associate Director of the Trauma Program at ICP. As a clinician\, Laura works primarily with adults living with complex PTSD and mood disorders. Dr. Jacobs has extensive training and experience using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (CBT)\, Family Based Treatment (FBT)\, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)\, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to treat eating disorders\, anxiety disorders\, OCD and related disorders\, substance abuse\, personality disorders\, as well as varying behavioral and emotional challenges. In addition to conducting individual\, couples\, and family therapy\, Dr. Jacobs leads CBT and DBT skills training groups. She uses her breadth and depth of knowledge to individually tailor treatment to the children\, adolescents\, and adults with whom she works. Dr. Jacobs received her undergraduate degree from Binghamton University\, her master’s degree (MHC) from Brooklyn College\, and her doctoral degree (Ph.D.) from Fairleigh Dickinson University. While practicing as a clinical psychologist at the Mount Sinai Health System\, Dr. Jacobs also previously held roles as the Program Director of the Mount Sinai Eating and Weight Disorder Program’s Adolescent Intensive Care program\, as well as Director of Outreach and Prevention. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Center for Motivation and Change (CMC)\, treating substance abuse disorders and co-occurring disorders within outpatient and intensive outpatient/day program settings. She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from McGill University in Montreal\, Canada\, and has since become a leading voice in the field of sex therapy. \nDr. Hall has lectured and written extensively on topics related to sexual health\, psychotherapy\, and the cultural influences on sexual well-being. Her latest book\, Talking About Sex in Psychotherapy\, is set for release by the American Psychological Association Press in November 2025. She also maintains an active private practice specializing in the treatment of sexual concerns and sits on the Special Classification Review Board\, a panel of experts appointed by the Governor of New Jersey responsible for overseeing treatment progress and determining parole readiness for incarcerated sex offenders. \nShe is passionate about mentorship\, and she provides training in sex therapy for both emerging and experienced clinicians. DESCRIPTION:Clinical Implications of Intergenerational Trauma\nwith Irit Felsen\, PhD\nThursday\, October 23\, 2025\n5:30 - 7:30 PM EST\nin person\, at ICP\n(this event won't be streamed or recorded)\n\n\n2 Continuing Education Credits. \n\nThis is a follow-up to an event that took place earlier this year\, but attendance at the previous event is not required. You're more than welcome to join us even if you missed part one!\nIn the second part of her presentation about intergenerational transmission of parental/ancestral trauma\, Irit Felsen\, PhD will be focusing on clinical implications for working with individuals from trauma-exposed groups. Recent approaches increasingly recognize the importance of historical trauma and of intergenerational processes as these shape the content and expression of particular psychological themes\, vulnerabilities and resiliencies in the descendants of trauma\, and their responses to current traumatic experiences and reminders of ancestral trauma.  Current wars and catastrophes\, national and international political upheaval\, and the erosion of democratic norms have intensely impacted patients and therapists in recent years and require the capacity to address in therapy the fear and anxiety in response to these national and international affairs\, the impact of these experiences on the therapeutic dyad\, and how both patient and therapist are influenced by legacies of historical trauma.  A trauma-focused framework will be presented\, addressing specific clinical factors and interventions for working with individuals whose presenting problems might also be rooted in intergenerationally transmitted traumatic experiences.  Identifying\, comprehending\, and working with the reverberations of intergenerational transmission of trauma might be critical for adequate treatment\, for symptom reduction and for enhancing patients’ resilience and well-being in trying times. \n\n\nIrit Felsen\, PhD is a clinical psychologist specializing in the effects of trauma and traumatic loss and intergenerational transmission of both trauma and resiliencies in families. \nDr. Felsen is an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University and had been an assistant professor at Yeshiva University Graduate School of Psychology for 14 years. She obtained her MA in Clinical Psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem\, her PhD the University of Hamburg\, Germany\, and her postdoctoral training at Yale University. Dr. Felsen worked in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings\, and since 9/11\, has served on a national emergency response team. Dr. Felsen is a Fellow of Division 56 (Trauma Division) in the APA\, chair of the Trauma Working Group of the NGO on Mental Health in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations\, a member of the National Center for Crisis Management and the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress\, and she was chair of the Work Group on Older Adults in the Interdivision APA Covid-19 Task Force. \nDr. Felsen’s research papers have been published in peer reviewed publications including American Journal of Orthopsychiatry; Psychoanalytic Psychology; Psychoanalysis\, Self and Context; American Journal of Psychiatry; Psychotherapy Research; Psychological Trauma: Theory\, Research\, Practice\, Policy; American Psychology; and others. She has contributed multiple book chapters\, among which a chapter in Charles Figley’s “Pandemic Providers” (2023)\, and a most recent one in “Routledge International Handbook of Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Descendants of Holocaust Survivors” (2024). She maintains a private practice in Englewood\, NJ. Eng\, PhD & Shinhee Han\, PhD\n\nFriday\, October 17\, 2025\, from 7 to 9 pm\nin-person at ICP\n(The lecture won't be streamed or recorded)\nRefreshments and conversation at 9 pm following the lecture. \n2 NYS CE Credits\nFocusing on the social and psychic lives of Asian Americans\, Eng and Han trace their three-decade collaboration across classroom and clinic\, from their groundbreaking work on racial melancholia and racial dissociation to a discussion of their current thinking on racial rage\, racial guilt\, and the uses of anger for Asian Americans. Using clinical examples\, they investigate the ways in which losses connected to immigration\, assimilation\, and racialization processes are mediated\, mitigated\, and exacerbated through rage and guilt for Asian Americans. In particular\, they explore the exemplary role of the Asian American therapist as an emotional custodian for black rage and white guilt\, along with issues of racial hate in the countertransference. \n  \nDavid L. Eng\, PhD is Richard L. Fisher Professor of English at the University of Pennsylvania\, where he is also Professor in the Programs of Asian American Studies\, Comparative Literature & Literary Theory\, and Gender\, Sexuality & Women’s Studies. A specialist in law\, psychoanalysis\, queer theory\, comparative race studies\, and Asian diaspora\, Eng is the recipient of research fellowships from the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton\, the Helsinki Collegium for Advanced Studies\, and the Mellon Foundation\, among others. He is an honorary member of IPTAR and a recipient of the Kessler Prize\, given to a scholar or activist with a major contribution to LGBTQ Studies. Eng is the author of four monographs including\, most recently\, Reparations and the Human (Duke\, 2025).  He is also co-editor of numerous collections including Loss: The Politics of Mourning (California\, 2003) and Q & A: Queer in Asian America (Temple\, 1998). \n  \nShinhee Han\, PhD\, is a senior psychotherapist at the New School University Counseling Service and in private practice in New York City. She is the co-author (with David L. Eng) of Racial Melancholia\, Racial Dissociation: On the Social and Psychic Lives of Asian Americans (Duke\, 2019). She is also a founding member of the Asian Women Giving Circle in NYC\, a philanthropic organization that funds Asian women artist creating social activism and change.
