For example\, while the AIDS epidemic shaped the experience of LGBTQ identified baby boomers\, how is Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) impacting Gen Z youth and millennial young adults? Has there been a generational loss of information now that the Zeitgeist is greater acceptance and rights for the LGBTQ community\, and if so\, how does it and will it impact future generations? And perhaps most pressing\, what impact has the Covid-19 Pandemic and its cascading effects had on those who identify as LGBTQ? How have these effects been either mitigated or exacerbated by  other intersecting aspects of identity such as race\, class\, immigration and dis/ability (to name only a few)?  \nThese questions and more will be addressed over the course of 6 weeks\, through a combination of readings\, film and discussion. Together\, we will take a look back at the history of LGBTQ affirmative psychotherapy\, the racialized history of our current terms ‘gender’ and ‘sexuality\,’ and the experiences of various LGBTQ communities in relation to the AIDS epidemic. The current anti-immigrant\, socio-political atmosphere contributes to a climate where immigrants are seen as undesirable\, and a threat to the economy\, safety\, and culture. Moreover\, recent priorities for raids and deportation are affecting the everyday fabric of daily life for this population. Immigrant and mixed-status couples are experiencing traumatic stress affecting their relational dynamics.\nThe goal of the workshop is for participants to gain an understanding of how the IFS model provides the language and resources to help mixed-status couples heal the pre and post-migratory trauma. Through the use of case studies\, the workshop will address the highly stressful and potentially traumatic experiences that immigrants undergo at different stages of the migration process\, and IFS interventions that support the process of healing for the couple. \nAbout Presenter:  \nRosa Maria Bramble Caballero\, LCSW-R\, is a Certified IFS Therapist. She’s the President of Caballero Consulting Services where she specializes in the treatment of trauma survivors. She is also L2 trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy\, EMDR\, and Coherent Breathing. But very little is written or taught about how we can prepare and use our instrument in session\, moment-to-moment\, with each client–particularly in terms of our implicit/ non-verbal communication as it transmits through our eyes\, faces\, bodies\, and voices.
