In his private practice\, he is dedicated to helping individuals enhance their self-awareness and self-regulation through evidence-based treatments that integrate psychotherapy\, psychopharmacology\, mindfulness and lifestyle interventions. There are many paths to healing and Dr. Richman’s treatment philosophy emphasizes the transformative power of a collaborative relationship to guide clients toward growth and lasting insight. In addition to his clinical work\, Dr. Richman is an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. The mid-2010s through to early 2020s saw a large movement towards challenging weight stigma in our society and a move towards body acceptance. It also saw a nascent dismantling of the inaccurate conflation of weight as a proxy for health. \nFast forward to 2021\, and many of us experienced whiplash with the introduction onto the marketplace of GLP-1RAs in the form of Ozempic. Although a medication designed to treat diabetes\, weight loss was a side effect. It was quickly snapped up by many seeking weight loss\, creating a supply chain crisis for many diabetics. \nSince that time we have seen several other GLP-1RA weight loss medications launched onto the marketplace. Advertising is everywhere. High profile celebrities\, entertainers\, and even professional elite athletes and sports professionals have hailed its benefits. The pressure to use this medication\, and hence to lose weight\, has never been greater. Clinical hours spent with your ICP patients will count toward your licensure. \nThe two-year FACTS program begins in September and is open to clinicians who will have a graduate degree in a licensable mental health profession by Fall 2026. Our E. Kitch Childs Equity scholarship provides full tuition for one candidate each year. The aim is to provide clients with opportunities to integrate the whole self in the therapy space. We will interrogate sex-negative bias\, practice sexual fluency\, and learn new concepts that enlighten and explain topics that may have previously felt untouchable in sessions. Please bring a willingness to share\, listen\, and process material that has the potential to revolutionize your practice. \nRebecca Sokoll is a certified sex and relationship therapist who works with couples\, individuals\, and families in New York City. She is a supervisor and instructor in the Sex Therapy Program at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy\, where she has also worked in the gender\, sexuality\, family\, and couples divisions. Curiosity\, an understanding of data\, and a zeal for results. \nMy academic research focused on trauma\, combined with a decade of service at the Veterans Administration most recently in a residential PTSD program\, have equipped me to understand trauma\, its causes and effects\, and how recovery and healing from trauma looks and feels in peoples' lives.​ \nFor some clients\, the traditional cognitive and exposure therapies\, like PE\, and CPT\, worked. Even so\, they generally required 12 or more weeks of treatment. For so many clients\, these methods weren't an option\, due to barriers like cost\, fears of narrating the worst moments in their lives\, or dysregulation due to their trauma.  So many clients needed something else. After researching alternative therapies\, I found Multichannel Eye Movement Integration (MEMI). It's a relatively new protocol\, published in 2021. I earnestly read the book\, became certified\, and actually found it to revolutionize my practice. Clients who had struggled with PTSD symptoms found significant relief. One of them gratefully told me\, reflecting on the value of just a few sessions\, "Now I have my life back." \nI left the VA to become the first Clinical Psychologist MEMI trainer to share this innovation with others. I train MEMI in a two day class and I provide consultation as part of the certification process for general mental health providers and trauma specialists alike. Curiosity\, an understanding of data\, and a zeal for results. \nMy academic research focused on trauma\, combined with a decade of service at the Veterans Administration most recently in a residential PTSD program\, have equipped me to understand trauma\, its causes and effects\, and how recovery and healing from trauma looks and feels in peoples' lives.​ \nFor some clients\, the traditional cognitive and exposure therapies\, like PE\, and CPT\, worked. Even so\, they generally required 12 or more weeks of treatment. For so many clients\, these methods weren't an option\, due to barriers like cost\, fears of narrating the worst moments in their lives\, or dysregulation due to their trauma.  So many clients needed something else. After researching alternative therapies\, I found Multichannel Eye Movement Integration (MEMI). It's a relatively new protocol\, published in 2021. I earnestly read the book\, became certified\, and actually found it to revolutionize my practice. Clients who had struggled with PTSD symptoms found significant relief. One of them gratefully told me\, reflecting on the value of just a few sessions\, "Now I have my life back." \nI left the VA to become the first Clinical Psychologist MEMI trainer to share this innovation with others. I train MEMI in a two day class and I provide consultation as part of the certification process for general mental health providers and trauma specialists alike. DESCRIPTION:All Information Sessions held virtually \nSaturday\, March 21st\, 2026 at 11am to 12pm \nThursday\, March 26th\, 2026 at 6pm to 7pm \nThursday\, April 9th\, 2026 at 6pm to 7pm \nSaturday\, April 11th\, 2026 at 11am to 12pm \nThursday\, April 30th\, 2026 at 6pm to 7pm \nSunday\, May 3rd \, 20256 at 12pm to 1pm \nRegistration\n \n \nJoin us to learn more about ICP’s post-graduate certificate program in Family and Couples Therapy! \nFor over 35 years\, ICP’s Family and Couples Treatment Services (FACTS) program has helped our diverse groups of candidates acquire the special skills needed to meet the challenges of doing family and couples therapy. \nThe information session will provide you with the opportunity to learn and ask questions about our three-pronged instructional approach: classes taught by prominent figures in the field\, outstanding supervision by seasoned clinicians\, and direct clinical contact with couples and families who come to ICP for services. Clinical hours spent with your ICP patients will count toward your licensure. \nThe two-year FACTS program begins in September and is open to clinicians who will have a graduate degree in a licensable mental health profession by Fall 2026. Our E. Kitch Childs Equity scholarship provides full tuition for one candidate each year.
