All incoming candidates are required to read Freud and Beyond, by Mitchell and Black. This book is useful for people who are considering applying to our program. Our candidates read articles from all different eras of our profession. You might choose to do some reading of your own, especially after reading Freud and Beyond, in which you’ll learn about the main theoretical perspectives of the profession. We recommend The Examined Life by Stephen Grosz, a book that offers vignettes that illustrate how various psychodynamic concepts are lived in psychotherapy.
