CSAB’s Junior Committee was established in May 2013. We are a dedicated group of mental health professionals who support CSAB’s mission to inform and educate the community about eating disorders and to provide outreach services.
Maria Gambino is a licensed Mental Health Counselor who attended NYU and Hunter College, who also completed CSAB’s training program to become a certified Eating Disorder Specialist. Maria tends to treat clients within a Psychodynamic framework, while incorporating Interpersonal, Relational and Cognitive Behavioral Techniques. She is a staff and Intake therapist at CSAB as well as a member of CSAB’s Executive and Junior Committees. Maria also works in her private practice in Union Square.
Jessica Staley has been working as the Program Manager for the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia and Family and Couples Treatment Services, two divisions of the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, since June 2014. She graduated from Colgate University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology, and in Sociology in May 2014. She plans to attend graduate school in the near future!
Arcy Segura is a recent graduate of CSAB’s 2-year training program to become a certified Eating Disorder Specialist. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University and has a background in Health Education and Promotion with a B.S. from Texas A&M University in Community Health. She currently works for Montefiore Medical System in the Bronx as a Health Educator, helping medical group patients with chronic conditions adapt new health behaviors to improve quality of life.
Jeannie Elder is a graduate of CSAB’s 2-year training program and holds a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from New York University. In addition to eating disorders, Jeannie specializes in substance abuse and rape crisis counseling, and is an LGBTQI ally.
Lauren Palumbo currently serves as a Team Leader with the Puerto Rican Family Institute where she oversees a division of the Coordination of Care and Mental Health Services program. Previously, Lauren worked with the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy where she was a pivotal Program Administrator for the Center for the Study of Anorexia & Bulimia and the Family & Couples Treatment Services Division, helping both programs to grow exponentially during her tenure. Presently, Lauren sits on both the Advisory Board as well as the Junior Committee for the CSAB division in order to stay connected to CSAB’s mission to bring responsible and accessible treatment and education to the community, a cause close to her heart. Lauren received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and her Masters in Public Administration from Baruch School of Public Affairs where she was inducted into Pi Alpha Alpha National Honors Society for Public Affairs in 2011. Having specialized in Policy Analysis and Evaluation while at Baruch, Lauren has conducted independent research on policies affecting the mental health community, specifically those in areas of concentrated poverty and re-entry populations.
Allison Jupiter, LCSW-R, CEDS is a licensed clinical social worker and certified eating disorders specialist. She received her BA from Brandeis University and her MSW from New York University. She continued developing my clinical expertise through post-graduate training at the Women’s Therapy Center Institute, the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia, and the Albert Ellis Institute. Prior to working in private practice, she worked at TRI Center, Inc., Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services, Inc., and Hunter College. In addition, she has served on the Steering Committee for the National Eating Disorder Association’s New York City Walk in 2011 and is the current Vice President for the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals New York Chapter. Allison is also a frequent lecturer on eating disorders and substance abuse issues to colleges, middle schools and high schools throughout New York City.
Sarah Meehan is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker currently in private practice. Sarah received her post-graduate training at CSAB and specializes in working with individuals who are suffering with Eating Disorders. Sarah is the former clinical supervisor for The Renfrew Center of NY. Sarah is also a certified Yoga instructor and teaches both group classes and private instruction while also incorporating yogic movement and principals into her therapeutic work, specifically with trauma survivors and those struggling with body image disturbances.
